2014 January Craft Day – Pink and Red and Hearts!

Saturday I had my first scheduled craft day of the year. My mom, two other people and myself were there and we had a great time! Everyone worked on different things, but I only have pictures of what I made.
Next month’s craft day falls after Valentine’s day so I decided to work on what I would need beforehand.
The first thing I made was candy to pass out at work:
These little bags are filled with a quarter cup of M&Ms with a fun topper. The bags are made by Wilton and are actually for cake pops or truffles. I put the M&Ms in and then folded the top twice (about 1/4″) and stapled it twice with the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. The pink paper was run through the embosser. The scalloped circle is from a Martha Stewart punch, and the smaller circle and heart are from miscellaneous punches. I then stapled the center of the pink paper to the bag, then punched holes and tied the circles and heart to the pink topper with two colors of crochet thread. All in all I made 14 of these (and I ate less than a quarter cup of the candy!)
Next up was a decoration for the house. I have very few Valentine’s decorations and with my newly painted mantle I wanted a banner to hang on the hooks that I put up for Christmas Stockings:
…And looking at that picture, I said the mantle was painted…not finished. 😛 Anyway. The letters are from a set of 26 12×12 chipboard pages I have which all have different type styles of each letter of the alphabet. I picked out three different styles of letters and glued a selection of papers to the fronts. I then painted the backs and sides red. Then because you can’t call it Valentine’s Day (or any holiday really) without glitter, I glittered all the edges. I then used the Crop-A-Dile to punch holes and place a silver eyelet in the top of each letter. Then I strung them evenly and tied a knot above each letter with mini red grossgrain ribbon.
After I finished those two big projects I made cards:
Finally, I made some treat bags using some bulk coffee bags that we ordered off the internet:
All in all it was a productive day and it brought my project total for the year up to 22 (I didn’t include a couple projects if you’re keeping track).
