Self Imposed Restrictions

It’s a yarn I’ve had for awhile…because everyone needs a stash right? But what happens when you are just buying new things and never using your stash, or always buying something else for a new project because you’re saving that other thing for ‘just the right project’?
So that’s why I have decided that for the month of April I will not be buying craft supplies. None. For 30 days (if I would’ve thought about this more I could have done this in February when there were only 28 days…). No JoAnns, no Michaels, no Hobby Lobby, not even an emergency trip to Wal-Mart. (I am making one exception as I am on vacation next week and will be attending The Paper Cottage make & take for $2.)
I have created a list of projects I’ve been putting off finishing and I would like to finish this month:
- Paper Maché Key: this is a key that I’m making that has a cardboard base and is covered in paper maché. It’s about 2 feet long and will be used as a house decoration.
- Citron Shawl: this would actually be done now if I hadn’t have needed to rip out three sections.
- Shadow Box Frames: I’ve had these two frames in my dining room for the last two months that I move from place to place. I’m planning to put sewn paper shapes in them that make flowers (pictures later, it will be great).
- Rabbit Embroidery: Really at this point, I just need to finish this thing. It’s tiny, but that makes the detail work even tinier. I have the background a little over half filled in, so if I’d just take the time it would be done as well.
Those are the four things that are my goal to finish. There will probably end up being more, but that’s a start.
Also, if by the end of the month I’m a bit (or a lot) grouchy, please bear with me, 30 days isn’t that long…right?
